Step 3: Decide How To Migrate From Wix
Once your Shopify account is ready and you have downloaded all the Wix data, you can migrate products, customers, and other data CSV files from Wix to Shopify. There are three ways to go about it. We describe these in the following steps.
Method 1: Manual Migration
- View the CSV files. You might have to format the CSV files from Wix into Shopify readable format. For example, the first line of the files should be column headers. Separate the columns by comma. Ensure that the CSV files are less than 15 MB. Remove all example products.
- Now you can import this data into Shopify. To import products to Shopify, go to Shopify Admin -> Products -> Import. Click the import button on the top right. Click upload/import CSV file. Press Continue. Deselect ‘publish new products to all sales channels’. Click upload and preview.
- Repeat the same for importing customers. (Follow the path Shopify Admin -> Customers -> Import)
- You also need to use the Inventory CSV file if you use multiple locations.
- Once all the data is imported, Shopify will send a confirmation email to the email ID you’ve given during account creation.
Proceed to step 4. Alternatively, consider the other two methods of data migration.
Method 2: Using A Third-Party App
The Shopify App Store has many third-party apps to help you send your Wix data to Shopify. These apps can easily help you migrate data related to your products, customers, orders, reviews, coupons, etc.

Method 3: Hire A Professional
If you are worried about data loss during migration, you can hire a Shopify partner to manage the migration process for you.
Proceed to step 4.
Step 4: Verify The Information And Fix Errors
This step is very important to ensure that all the data has been uploaded error-free to Shopify. Review the product details and check to ensure that the meta description, images, variants, and price are all imported successfully.
Here are some common errors you may encounter during migration, along with ways to fix them:
- Successful but some changes present: Go to each changed item, view the item, and make necessary changes.
- Imported but not published: The products may have been hidden in the Wix store. They won’t be published unless you make them available to the sales channel.
- Details are missing: Review product information and fill in the missing details.
- Product variants not imported: The product may be missing the variant option. You need to manually add the variant products to Shopify.
- Some items cannot be imported: This can happen in many cases such as in customers having duplicate data like multiple phone numbers or email addresses. Only the most recent data is imported in case of duplicate records.
- Similarly, review the customer import summary by clicking View all customers.
In the Shopify store, create product collections to organize products into categories.
Step 5: Import Other Data
In addition to the basic store data, there is also other data you may wish to import.
Reviews
Currently, there is no facility to get your Wix reviews to Shopify. However, some third-party apps like Loox allow you to easily import Wix reviews to Shopify. A good Shopify reviews app can help you keep revies organized and make them look nice.
Order History
Third-party apps like LitExtension and Cart2Cart allow you to easily migrate order history from Wix to Shopify.
Step 6: Complete The Shopify Store Setup
- This includes adding a theme (paid or free).
- Set up shipping and logistics. Create shipping zones and set the shipping rates.
- Configure taxes.
- Set up payment providers and activate Shopify payments.
- Set up checkout.
- Set up the domain. This can be the same domain as your Wix store or a new one. If you use the existing Wix domain, point it to your Shopify domain.
- Alternatively, disconnect the existing domain you want from the Wix platform settings. Purchase the Shopify domain and set it up as primary.
- Before transferring to your domain, set up URL redirects.
